“And then there are the sailors sailing the seven seas, plying the trade routes of the world. They, too, observe the power of God in action. He calls to the storm winds; the waves rise high. Their ships are tossed to the heavens and sink again to the depths; the sailors cringe in terror. They reel and stagger like drunkards and are at their wits’ end. Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, and he saves them. He calms the storm and stills the waves. What a blessing is that stillness as he brings them safely into harbor! Oh, that these men would praise the Lord for his loving-kindness and for all of his wonderful deeds! Let them praise him publicly before the congregation and before the leaders of the nation.” ~ Psalm 107:23-32 (TLB)

Safe Harbor

Life on Earth is a journey. Each journey is unique. I don't lay claim to any great revelation concerning this life, but I do believe that we are blessed by God to be here. I hope to do the best that I can to fulfill His plan for my life. But I know that I can do nothing without Him.

When the seas are calm we are grateful for all that God has blessed us with. God deserves our praise for every good thing and every good day. Without His protecting hand the forces of evil would surely crush us.

When the seas are rough we can look forward to coming home into God's kingdom. We can ask God for His strength to help us through the storm and bring us home...to safe harbor.

As I was choosing cuts for my first CD, Carpenter's Apprentice, the concept for this album, Safe Harbor, came to me. Several of the songs that I was working on fit nicely into the format for Safe Harbor so it made the selection process much simpler for both.

Thank you Barbara and Allison. Thanks to Amy Lynn for the background vocal on "What a Wonderful Day." Thanks to Glenn and Matthew Hutchison for the photography. Thank you to my church family at New Life for all of your encouragement. Thank you to those who pray and lift my name up to God. I know where the music is really coming from... Thank you, Lord.

Sincerely, Frank

Goals

We need to know which road we tread.
A straight, a wind, or is the ending dead?
Where are we led?
The way to wrong is long and wide.
We'll take that route unless we change the tide.
You cannot hide.

Set your goals very carefully.
Not so high that you can't see.
Set them so the Lord you'll please.
Set your goals on eternity.

We are to make the world a place
filled with God's love and joy upon each face.
Hate? Not a trace.
We'll do God's will. All for our Lord.
Then peace of soul and heaven is our reward.
Live by His word.

Set your goals very carefully.
Not so high that you can't see.

What A Wonderful Day

La, La La La La. What a wonderful day.
La, La La La La. God made it that way.

I sit down on the dock when no one else is there.
I close my eyes and deeply breathe the morning air.
I settle in my seat. I skim the water with my feet.

I marvel at the day the Lord has made.

La, La La La La. What a wonderful day.
La, La La La La. God made it that way.

I'm walking through the woods, a wind begins to blow.
I turn my collar up as it begins to snow.
Some geese fly over me. A rabbit hops behind a tree.
I marvel at the creatures God has made.

La, La La La La. What a wonderful day.
La, La La La La. God made it that way.

I see no randomness, instead a great design.
All is made to a plan that had us all in mind.
The evidence is all around, up in the sky, down to the ground.
I marvel at each soul that He has made.

La, La La La La. What a wonderful day.

Is That Where?

Is that where you’re leading me Lord?

I’m searching for a clue in your word.

I’ll do what you want me to do.

My whole life I give to you.

It happens from time to time. I get this feeling inside.

I first felt it deep in my heart when Jesus became a part.

A yearning beginning to swell, like fresh water drawn from a well.

Impatient to work for the Lord… Eager to move forward.

Is that where you’re leading me Lord?

I’m searching for a clue in your word.

I’ll do what you want me to do.

My whole life I give to you.

Every now and again God has me look at where I have been.

His work is easily found when I didn’t feel Him around.

Strange though it may seem, the Lord makes most use of me

When I’m at an all-time low… tired and weak and slow.

Is that where you’re leading me Lord?

I’m searching for a clue in your word.

I’ll do what you want me to do.

My whole life I give to you.

A Simple Man

I am just a simple man. I have my simple faith.
I try to do the things that I should by following God's way.

When someone needs a hand. I know how they must feel.
Each thoughtfulness is contagious,
and not such a big deal.

What has been done for me I'd like to do for you.
When thoughtfulness is usefulness
one lift turns into two.

Sometimes a servant's work is unwelcome and spurned
Some thoughtfulness is dangerous,
it may not be returned.

I take to God my praise for small acts of relief.
God's thoughtfulness is fabulous.
His help beyond belief.

With Jesus as my guide, each day my ship He sails.
His thoughtfulness is marvelous.
With Him I cannot fail.

I hope that God is praised when I do something kind.
My thoughtfulness is His goodness
reflected in my mind.

Forlorn/Reborn

Please show me a family.
A one that has a way for me.
I need a hand to help me through today.
Life is hard, I'm sure you know.

You just don't know which way to go.
A leader is what we need, they say...I'm forlorn.

But worldly woes, no need to fret.
There is an answer, yes I'll bet.
Someone, something to shine upon a peak.
It must be here. Where is it at?
In front of me, I'm sure of that,
A blessing for the poor and small and weak...I'm forlorn.

Sure enough, I knew I'd find,
as big as brightness. Was I blind?
An answer in the form of love and more.
It's free for you, It's free for me.
No entry fee for a family
that Jesus leads down the way forevermore...I'm reborn

"Seek you'll find," I've found the light
that put an end to my lonely plight,
adding fullness and a freedom never matched.
I'll give my life, my love to Him

Nothing New

That which has been before is that which will be.
and what has been done is what will be done again.
All that God can do, I cannot add to.
There is nothing new. Not under the sun. Nothing new.

I considered the work of my hands, what I had made.
I set my mind to understand wisdom and folly.
All that God can do, I cannot add to.
There is nothing new. Not under the sun. Nothing new.

He has an appointed time, a time for everything.
But we are not to see what will come to be.
All that God can do, I cannot add to.
There is nothing new. Not under the sun. Nothing new.

I'm busy at my work and it makes my heart glad.
But I can't call the rain or grow the seed.
All that God can do, I cannot add to.
There is nothing new. Not under the sun. Nothing new.

The judgment of the Lord is coming one day.
So fear God and obey all His commands.
All that God can do, I cannot add to.
There is nothing new. Not under the sun. Nothing new.

A Brother’s Lament

Help me to love my brothers and sisters.

Help me see things the way that they do.

Help me find joy in serving others.

Lord, help me be much more like you.

It’s easy to get upset when things don’t go my way.

I may then need to scream and shout when I don’t have my say.

But I am called to separate myself from childish ways.

Still, sometimes when I’m made to wait, I may make someone pay.

Help me to love my brothers and sisters.

Help me see things the way that they do.

Help me find joy in serving others.

Lord, help me be much more like you.

It’s easy to point out blame when I don’t think I’m wrong.

Then I can fuss and use their ways to sing of in a song.

Then when I’m done I look around at faces standing near.

That’s when I start to realize I’ve bended someone’s ear.

Help me to love my brothers and sisters.

Help me see things the way that they do.

Help me find joy in serving others.

Lord, help me be much more like you.

It’s easy to criticize the message that is taught.

I soon start thinking that I’m wise when others know I’m not.

I know it may sound terrible to leave my mind to roam.

It could and may be possible I left my mind at home.

Help me to love my brothers and sisters.

Help me see things the way that they do.

Help me find joy in serving others.

Lord, help me be much more like you.

Come With Me

Come with me. Come with me, as we travel stormy seas.
When we sail into the harbor I want you to be with me.

As I travel on this journey I see many who despair. Help awaits them for the asking if they call the God who's there.
I'm not trying to insult you. I'm not wanting you to flee. I don't even mean to push you, but I want you to come with me.

Come with me. Come with me, as we travel stormy seas.
When we sail into the harbor I want you to be with me.

A believer's heart is humble. Though I am not always right, my great wish is to obey Him and be pleasing in God's sight.
It may seem that I'm demanding when I say "God's word is true." Trust His word and you will find Him and I'll spend all time with you.

Come with me. Come with me, as we travel stormy seas.
When we sail into the harbor I want you to be with me.

Many days we search for meaning...ask ourselves why we are here. We are made to love and praise Him. God does care and lends an ear.
The Lord Jesus is now waiting. He wants you to come to Him. Are you answering His calling? Hear His voice and let Him in.

Follow me. Follow me...He who made and calmed the sea.
Please come to my holy city, I want you to be with me.
