Busy, Busy, Busy

Hello All! I am sure that many of you have noticed the nice new look for our newsletters that have gone out in the past couple of months. Behind the scenes, not only have I been working diligently to send the Summer Edition 2026 to print, but I have also been trying to fine-tune our data entry operations. This was hopefully going to give me more time to create and have me spending less time doing menial tasks like adding names to lists. Unfortunately, this meant hours and hours of setup time spanning over two months while also trying to work toward a digital database for our reviews. Well, instead of those months of work coming to fruition, I hit an unexpected paywall and a crippling limitation in the program that means I will have to do all of that same work again. Frankly, I'm a bit gutted. I could look at this setback as a blessing due to the fact that our rapid growth was part of the problem, but as I juggle our children being home for the Summer and some stressful job-related changes, it is hard to view it that way. Every submission season leads to hundreds and sometimes thousands of people visiting our website every week. Having ways for those customers to connect in working order is paramount. Considering I only found out that this would be an issue last Friday, I have spent every day this week on the computer for hours. My goal is to have at least the forms all working and accounted for by Cover Art Contest voting, which starts on July 27. In the meantime, everything on current submission forms will continue to go through; I will just have to do a lot of things manually, which will cause delays. Your prayers are appreciated. I understand that, in the grand scheme, this is not the end of the world, but it still feels pretty bad.

On a happier note, both of our writing contests are still accepting submissions through July 31st, and our Cover Art Contest will continue accepting covers through July 25th. Information can be found at the links at the top of the page. You can find a list of our Contest Sponsors below! Show them some love!

ALSO, we have a new columnist!

Read on to learn a little bit more about her!

Welcome to Ruth Zeigler, Clean Fiction Columnist!

Ruth Zeigler is "an author in progress" from Western Pennsylvania. Her love of storytelling comes from her family’s love of reading and performing on the stage. Her favorite story is God’s story of love and redemption. Ruth brings to life new stories from around the world with her students as a World Cultures teacher. A lifelong fantasy nerd, you can find Ruth not so secretly checking wardrobes for magical lands or dressing up for the local Renaissance faire (or for any occasion really). Her current writing projects include a young adult adventure novel and a fantasy stage play. When she’s not writing, she loves to travel to both old places and new, spend time with family and friends, and slowly building her flower crown business.

May your day be bright and your reading be epic!
