Hello All! I am happy to be chatting with you all this week! Per the image above, Amanda received her Small Spotlight Giveaway prizes safely in the mail. Speaking of mail, I was also able to send out 150 postcards for our Writing Contests to Christian schools and institutions across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and New York. If you would like your local school or library added to the list, feel free to shoot me an email.
In other related news, writing contest submissions have begun for our Autumn Edition 2026. Our Windows contest image for this quarter is a man peering through frosted glass, and the Paths contest image is of a glowing deer in the forest. Submissions end July 31st, and for more information, visit the "Contests" page of our website (sunsetvalleycreations.com/contest).
I am still recovering from publishing the Summer Edition, so I will make this short and leave you with the Summer Edition 2026 dedication.
Dedication: This 19th edition of Clean Fiction Magazine is dedicated to INDEPENDENT AUTHORS. I know that our magazine has focused on indie authors and small presses from the very beginning, but I wanted to take a moment to really highlight the tenacity of these wonderful authors. In the time that I have been in publishing, which spans more than two decades, I have seen drastic shifts in both technology and marketing that have made even the most persistent creatives let go of their dream of writing and publishing. At the same speed as technology opened the opportunity to publish to the masses, bad actors have filled the publishing space with enough noise to drown out those for whom this service was meant in the first place. I regularly refer to this as "shouting into the void without hearing an echo". It is an isolating experience. Taking a precious piece of yourself, crafting it into something you know that others will enjoy, and then placing it in a space where there is so much clatter that even those who would enjoy it cannot find it. The reality of independent publishing might be a bit grim, but I am here to encourage you. Even if the internet doesn't see you, God does. At the moment you are shouting into that void, God is by your side with His arm around your shoulder, guiding the sound that didn't come back as an echo, right to the people who need it most. We may never achieve success the way the world views it, but if we can make a difference in one person's life, it was worth it. So, will you continue to write for that one person? I will. ~ ALM
May your day be bright and your reading be epic!
