Submissions Begin!

Windows into the Multiverse Image
Windows into the Multiverse Image

Hello All! Another week has passed us by, and a busy weekend is ahead of us (at least for those based in the USA). Happy Independence Day to those in the US and Happy Random Friday to those who aren't. Submissions for the Autumn Windows into the Multiverse Writing Contest have begun. As of the 1st of July we have already begun receiving submissions and will continue to accept micro-stories up through July 31st. The prompt image can be found above and features a young woman at sunset in the forest. I never know what authors are going to do with the image I choose, but I can tell you honestly that I have been blown away more times than I can count. Do you want to participate? Here are some shortened instructions: You are asked to write a 1,000-1,500-word micro-story beginning with "Through the window, I saw..." and submit it within the 31-day, submission window on the "Submit Your Micro-story" form found on our website. Submissions are free, and if your story is chosen for print, you will receive a gift card, a 3D printed medallion (in the continental US), and an author feature worth up to $40. This contest is judged by a select few of our reviewers and is sponsored by the Strangers & Aliens Podcast (strangersandaliens.com).

COVER ART CONTEST: Sponsorships are going fast, so don't wait! We are looking for businesses/authors who are willing to sponsor our quarterly Cover Art Contest. Submissions begin July 14th and end July 26th. If you want to receive the most "bang for your buck", lock in your sponsorship early. This allows for your information to be included in the most amount of social media posts and newsletters. It's our best deal at only $25. REALMMAKERS EXPO: I have been working hard again this week, preparing to make my booth colorful and welcoming. Our magazines are so colorful that I knew that I would have to make merchandise that would be able to stand next to them and still catch the eye. If you didn't know, I am the layout and graphic design specialist for our magazine, which means that I really love to create. Playing with fonts and graphics is one of my favorite ways to wile away an afternoon. So designing bookmarks, keychains, and charms that our target customers would love was great fun. My husband, on the other hand, was the one who has been doing the hard work. 3D printing with fine detail and high contrast is not for the faint of heart. After dozens of products, though, he now has it down to a science. I couldn't have done it without him! Taking what I create from the digital world to the physical world is addictive. I am sure he wants me to stay away from my computer long enough to allow him to catch up on his to-do list, and at least for now, I will appease him.

Why am I making fun bookish merchandise? You can find more information about the RealmMakers Expo at realmmakers.com

May your day be bright and your reading be epic!
