Why would I put myself through all this? I think our 20th Edition Dedication says it best.
Dedication: This 20th edition of Clean Fiction Magazine is dedicated to TENACITY. Without this key ingredient in an independent author's personality, many, many great works of fiction would never have been written. Toiling away alone with your fingers typing feverishly in silence, or maybe with a favorite playlist in your headphones, is how most authors spend their time. The mental and emotional strain of bringing a creative work into the world is like birth in a way. Not as physically painful, mind you, but requiring months of time and energy that will push you to your limits. For some authors, the rush of a finished piece reaching the public is stressful enough for them to put down the pen, but for others it creates a desire to bring more and more creative "children" into the world. The analogy isn't a weak one. Having done both, I can attest to the strain that both have on a person's body and mind. So cheers to the tenacious ones. The ones who pushed through. The ones who continue to push as God gives them more and more to share because "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." (Luke 12:48). This calling is not for the faint of heart. Onward, My Friends. ~ ALM
