Kragnor, one of the last dragons, carries two burdens: a promise made centuries ago and the fresh grief of his life mate's passing. He knows the prophecy foretelling his death will come when called to fulfill his oath, but honor demands he answer when the city he once saved calls to him again. When corruption spreads through the very streets of Nimphoria, Commander Derek knows he must risk everything to take the oath crystal to Kragnor and request him to fulfill his oath. His true identity is revealed to his troops. Now he must determine how to return with the dragon to stop the corruption without causing a kingdom division. As darkness threatens to consume all he swore to defend, Kragnor must contend with the possibility that a dragon he once knew and loved ages ago works with the corruption. In this final battle, the aging dragon will discover that endings sometimes harbor new beginnings, and that his life mate's memory might guide him toward a legacy greater than he ever imagined.
