This is the sequel to Tatia’s Tattoo. This story takes place 10 years after the events in Tatia’s Tattoo take place. This story is also split between the past and present as Tatia experiences memories through flashbacks of the early days of her and Jesse’s marriage and the beginning of their ministry, Fallen Angel Salvage. I recommend reading this after reading the first book to avoid spoilers mentioned in the sequel.

ACTION: Thankfully, the action in Fallen Angel Salvage isn’t as intense as its predecessor. Most of the action is focused on the rescue efforts to get Joy out of Eric’s clutches before she has to suffer the same fate as her mother. It’s a race against the clock as Tatia, Jesse, and their biker friend Brush join forces with local law enforcement to locate Joy. While Eric is heartless and cruel towards Joy, he’s surprisingly not abusive. At least not in a sexual sense. There’s still mental and emotional abuse at play here so I’d caution anyone with any kind of past trauma and abuse to think twice before reading due to possible triggers.

ADVENTURE: This book has adventure that will have you on the edge of your seat! From the time Joy gets taken all the way to the end. You’ll get to follow and experience all the emotional highs and lows of a search and rescue mission. There’s also several heart-pounding scenes throughout that will leave you cheering for the heroes while rooting for the villain’s downfall. You may need a minute to stop and catch your breath!

ROMANCE: Jesse and Tatia’s marriage takes center stage. The story is full of flashbacks to the earlier days of their marriage. Though sex is implied, nothing is shown on-page. Nothing more than hugging and kissing is shown. They draw strength from each other and their strong faith in God while on the search for Joy.

RELIGION: Christianity plays a huge role in the story. As part of Jesse and Tatia’s ministry, they provide cover-up tattoos for ex-gang members and rescue women and children from human trafficking, all while sharing the Gospel with whoever will listen. Like her mother, Joy believes in God and relies on Him for safety and protection from her captors. She witnesses to and offers a way out to Madison, a woman trapped in the trafficking business.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This is a great follow-up to Tatia’s Tattoo. This book isn’t a standalone, and you will need to read both books for the story to make complete sense. Unlike its predecessor, Fallen Angel Salvage is tamer content-wise. There’s minimal physical abuse scenes and no sexual abuse scenes or flashbacks. A few instances of off-color language, all from the villain. No scenes dealing with the ins and outs of prostitution. This was a great read that was less emotionally draining. The author is working on a third installment, and I can’t wait to see where she takes the story next!
